Tamarra & Julian are two great people who deserve one another. We are not only blessed to be able to call them our clients, but also our friends. Every once in a while, you shoot a wedding that emotionally grabs you; this wedding was definitely one of them. They were married at the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic. We had such a great time with them, their family and their friends.

So I'm sitting at my computer working about mid 2009 and I get a e-mail from Jayme asking if I was available for a wedding in Cape Cod. I was open but before I replied I gave Travis a call to see if he was available. Little did I know he was on the phone calling me to see if I was open for a wedding in Cape Cod!!!. Jayme had contacted both of us to check our availability. To make a long story short, this is the first official wedding of Broxton & Lloyd. The website will be up in about a month.

Image of the Month

Even though I took these pictures some time ago, they are still some of my favorite. It is hilarious how an opinion can change from "Awesome" to "This sucks and you do too" in a matter of moments. I love how envious the kid in the middle is while he's watching his cousin pick his nose, but that envy changes quickly when they all get scolded for his cousin's desire to dig. Poor little guy on the end has NO idea as to what has just happened! His face just says, "Oooh brother". Our little gold digger does look remorseful though.

About a year ago, I decided that I would start sending out "Image of the Month" cards. I loved keeping in touch with some of my friends in the industry, but I was just not able to keep in touch with everyone that way. I told myself that I would start sending my images out electronically so that I could reach more people, but life happens, and before you know it, you're busy being soccer Dad, driving 3+ hours to and from school and daycare, all while trying to run a business...some things just get pushed to the back burner. Well, I'm happy to say, with my wife changing her schedule around, it frees me up a little and I'll be starting back up with my "Image of the Month"! I'm happy to be back at it again! Other perspectives always make for interesting conversation, so I'd love for you to leave your feedback, or for you to just come and check out what I've been up to.

Unspoken reassurance

This image was taken when I had the opportunity to shoot in Atlanta with Ross from Ross Oscar Knight. It was a pleasure working with him and even though it rained the entire day, I was able to get some great images from the wedding. I love this image of the groom and groomsmen.

So I had the pleasure of shooting Aymee and Paul's wedding at The Palmetto Club. Ian from Botanica international Design Studio worked his but off with the beautiful design. Sandy Rule from Sandy Rule Events did a great job with the coordination of everything. I can't stress enough how important it is to have a good coordinator. I can't begin to try to put it into words how nice this wedding was. I will doing a slide show of the wedding in a couple of days, look for it. Travis shot the wedding with me. I love shooting with Travis, just his presence forces me to shoot that much better. He is a great inspiration.

Putting an end to 2008!!

I have been thinking about New Year's resolutions. Of course, I have the same "get in shape" resolution as everyone else. However, this isn't satisfying me this year. I needed to come up with something more in depth. What will my resolution be that is more than just your run of the mill resolution. Here are some items that I've come up with so far. There will be more to come - this is a slow process.

1 - Give more of myself to those around me - whoever that may be.
2 - Give my time to those less fortunate than me more than once a year. Sometimes, we think donating items sufice, but a smiling face and a helping hand can mean so much more.
3 - Get organized so that I can do the above items.

Jackie and John!!!! I don't even know where to start. They were so great and willing to go anywhere and do anything. We even walked on the coral reef - we got kicked off of that. She put her dress on three times within two days just to take pictures - Bless her heart!!! Crazy, I know!

I went out searching for polls today just to see the lines and to capture some history. We voted early because we just knew that there would be lines around the corner. To my surprise, some of the polling sites had no lines at all! There were still some pretty excited folks out though. The lady with the handwritten sign reminds me of something out of the 60's.

So, after my son was born on Thursday, I had to fly out Friday to do my brothers wedding in DC on Saturday (which I could not do nor try to do without the blessing from my wife, she's great). The wedding was at The Belmont Conference Center in Baltimore Maryland. I had the honor of working with Linnyette Richardson Hall from Premiere Event Management, also known as “The Wedding Diva”. Mr. Myles Lloyd has arrived

Myles Lloyd McDonald has finally arrived!! What a joy he has already been. He's a very sweet baby. Myles was born on September 18th at 8:14pm, weighed 7lbs 9oz. and was 19.5 inches long. We were blessed with a healthy and happy baby. Mom is in a bit of pain still, but it's getting better everyday. Brother and sister are in love! They were so happy to finally lay eyes on him. They have been very helpful and we are so thankful for that. As for Daddy...well, needless to say, I'm wrapped around his little finger. He's such a handsome baby - I can't help it.

Baby Update!!!

The baby -

We finally have our official "Birth Date". My wife will be delivering the baby by way of a scheduled c-section on September 23, 2008 at Brandon Regional Hospital!! My Mother-In-Law will be coming in from Denver to help take care of the wife and kids during the time that I may have to work. Oh - and possibly to bond with her 8th (and maybe final) grandchild. ;-) Alex will be "on location" to make sure we get some nice footage of Mr. Myles to share with everyone. Please send a prayer up for his safe and healthy arrival. We cannot wait for the little guy to get here. We have the nursery all set up with his Classic Pooh decor. We wonder so often what he'll look like and what kind of personality he'll have. The wife is growing more and more tired everyday, she told me last Friday that she was officially tired of being pregnant. At 9 months, she's pretty uncomfortable. She's convinced the baby is trying to take out one of her vital organs with his kicks...maybe we have a little soccer player on our hands.

The shower -

The shower was a blast!!! The consensus was that this was the best baby shower ever!! We didn't know that we were so loved! Shannnon, Aymee, Jackie and Zoe really put a great event together. The location was awesome - the NoHo Bistro has such a relaxing environment and the food was really good. We had mini cheeseburgers on Hawaiian rolls, chicken strips, onion rings, sweet potato fries and our favorite - fried rice in mini Chinese take out containers. We also had a pickles and ice cream bar. There was an assortment of pickles and olives, and ice cream with all of the toppings. What a good idea! The featured drink of the night was "The Bubbly Baby Boy" which consisted of champagne with a splash of Curacao. The cake came from Chocolate Pi. They did a great job on it. It was in the shape of a crown and had the baby's monogram on it - tasty too!! The DJ was awesome! He played soft music throughout the night that allowed everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. The flower arrangements were simply beautiful! Botanica really outdid themselves with the beautiful blue and white centerpieces and arrangements. The way the shower was set up was simply breathtaking. We all know that "the girls" wouldn't do anything that wasn't in that category though. :-)

We received so many beautiful gifts. We did not open them at the shower which was disappointing for some and probably excellent for the men who were attending their first baby shower - like me. We actually liked not opening the gifts at that time because it gave us a chance to spend more time with our friends. It also gave our children an opportunity to be involved - my wife let them open all the gifts when we got home that night while she wrote everything down. It was like Christmas for them!

We had so much fun spending time with all of our friends. My wife's girlfriend surprised her by driving all the way down from Atlanta just to come to the shower! They got the chance to hang out for a couple of nights and that was really nice for her....she just wished they could have shared a bottle of wine. lol We once again, wanted to thank everyone for everything they have offered to us. We are so blessed to have a group of friends who are so selfless. Thank each of you for loving us and blessing us with your friendship.
